Clockwork

A tongue-in-cheek view of events around school

An Icy Truth: Last Friday, the President’s Speaker Series played host to His Excellency Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson, President of the Republic of Iceland, who spoke about “Clean Energy, Climate Change, and the Arctic”. After the talk, our Facebook news feeds were inundated by posts about the President’s charisma and intellect. Apparently, the quote of the semester is: “Ice is neither right wing nor left wing. It has no political ideology; it simply melts.”

Make’ Em Laugh: If the stress of last week and impending exam doom is getting to you, fear not, for The Improv Comedy Conglomerate will be hosting its Improv Show at 8 pm in the Kelwaram Chanrai Room this Wednesday. Apparently, at this stage, it’s harder to get a ticket for the show than it is to get an A in a science class.

Time to Wear the Thinking Caps:  Or if you are in the mood for some heavy thinking, attend the Art’s Lab, Qing (purge) at 9, 9.30 and 10 pm in College Green this Friday. We hear it will be presented as a collection of monologues and will incorporate a dialogue at the Blackbox at 11 pm.

This is the End: With just three days left for the end of classes for the semester, remember to keep breathing and try to keep sane. To ensure we don’t fail all our classes and finally experience a free Sunday, this is The Octant’s final issue of the semester. This semester, we had our first few intrepid Faculty Guest Columnists write in, experimented with different types of content and designs and produced our first-ever 12 page issue! All in all, it’s been a thrilling ride and we can’t wait to see you again in January.
