Yale-NUS College has suspended all activities of the Yale-NUS International Relations and Political Association (YIRPA). The Dean of Students, Christopher Bridges, confirmed that the College has suspended the organization, pending a review of their operations.

Details of the suspension remain scarce. Bridges declined to comment further, while the review was ongoing. Manager of Student Organizations & Leadership, Petrina Loh, echoed these sentiments.

Director of Student Organizations in the Student Government, Anandita Sabherwal ’19 also declined to comment.

Confirmations or explanations from YIRPA have also been absent, with members unavailable for comment.

Former YIRPA secretary, Timothy Lim, said that he had not been informed of the suspension. He had to confirm it by asking other former YIRPA members. Mr. Lim added that, from his understanding, “no rationale has been provided.”

YIRPA received notification of their suspension on Monday, 16 Jan. less than 24 hours after hosting the Yale-NUS Asia Pacific Model United Nations 2017. The event featured Singapore’s Defence Minister Mr. Ng Eng Hen as the Guest of Honor.
